Captain Beal, sea captain and lighthouse keeper up and down the Maine coast, lived in this house from 1923 until his boatbuilder son-in-law began living in it in 1943. Captain Beal's son-in-law's home for over a half-century, his natural affinity for wood and woodworking is still reflected in the wainscoting and woodwork within. This home is located in Southwest Harbor on the Manset side, and it's but a few minutes walk to the shore, the town dock, the Free MDI shuttle bus stop, and a 5 minute drive to the center of town and local restaurants. This home also offers a large yard, which adds to its perfection as an excellent spot for a great family vacation. The Captain Beal House is also located just a few short miles from Acadia National Park and within easy access to all of the MDI towns. Activities nearby include swimming, hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking, canoeing, whale watching, nature tours, sunset cruises, golf, glider rides, oceanariums and much more!
