Bowed Psalteries
The bowed psaltery
is played by drawing the bow across strings that are between the pins on the
right and left sides.
The right side of a bowed psaltery is the key of "C" (i.e., like the white keys
on a piano) and the left side contains sharps and flats (i.e.,like the
black keys of a piano). The bowed psaltery sounds like a violin, but it is much
easier to play.
